Upgraded from the 25xs line, the DIGISUPER 27 and DIGISUPER 27AF are wider, have a bigger zoom ratio and feature newly developed multi-layer optical coatings that reduce ghosting and flares. The 27AF utilizes Canon’s proprietary Auto Focus technology, which according to Gordon Tubbs, director of Broadcast and Communications division, “is set to revolutionize HD production on multiple fronts.”

Recently used to great effect in the Oscar®-nominated film, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (shot by Janusz Kaminski), the LENSBABY 3GPL allows a cinematographer to hold a certain part of their frame into sharp focus, surrounded by gradually increasing blur. By simply bending the lens, you can move the sweet spot of sharp focus anywhere in the image. Working much in the same way as a tilt and shift lens, but more affordable, the 3GPL works directly on 16mm or 35mm PL mount cameras.

SCHNEIDER OPTICS’ new HD CLASSIC SOFT filters were created in response to requests for a high-quality softening filter to complement the new high-resolution, smaller chip HD cameras. This new family of professional filtration tools is based on their Classic Soft filters for cine and broadcast cameras. The filter features a calculated amount of precisely positioned Micro-Lenslets, which provide a controlled soft image that is overlaid on a sharp, in-focus image, creating In-Focus Diffusion. This effect blends small wrinkles and blemishes, while maintaining an overall sharp focus that conceals the fact that a softening filter has been used.
