On Monday, April 24, Local 600 / ICG Magazine hosted the latest “Deep Dive Live” panel with Hulu’s new musical comedy series, “Up Here.”
Local 600/ICG Magazine’s “Deep Dive Live” craft series traveled to New York City for an in-person panel with the crafts team behind Hulu’s one-of-a-kind streaming series “Up Here.” Created by the Oscar-winning songwriting team of Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (“Frozen”, “WandaVision,” “Coco”), along with Tony-winning writer Steven Levenson (“Dear Evan Hansen”), Tony-winning director Tommy Kail (“Hamilton”), and Tony-winning choreographer Sonya Tayeh (“Moulin Rouge”), the romantic comedy centers on two New Yorkers (Mae Whitman and Carlos Valdes), seeking love and career fulfillment on the eve of Y2K, while trying to navigate the “musical voices” inside their heads. Director of Photography Ashley Connor (“Sharp Stick,” “Night Sky,” “Madeline’s Madeline”) led the union camera team through some of the most innovative (and challenging) camera choreography ever conceived for the musical episodic genre. Local 600 Director of Photography Mia Cioffi Henry (“Invisible Beauty,” “Superior”) moderated the 60-minute Q & A with panelists Connor, A-Camera Operator Justin Foster, B-Camera/Steadicam Operator Jennie Jeddry, SOC, Colorist Nat Jencks, and Associate Choreographer Alison Ingelstrom.
